CONFRATERNITY OF CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE (CCD)

The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine or the CCD as people usually prefer to call it, is the religious teaching program of the Catholic Church. The program caters to public school children from Kindergarten until they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is highly desired that they go through the program the moment they start with it. The program aims to teach the basic doctrines of our Catholic Church to our children thus deepening their faith in the Triune God. It is hoped that they will internalize what they have learned from their lessons and live out their faith as shown in their lives, in their relationships with one another and in their involvement in the different ministries of the Church.

The RE catechists are volunteers. Lessons are adapted in an interesting and engaging way according to the age/grade levels of the students. The Teachers are provided with Manual guide. Videos, printed or art materials are used as part of their methodology in teaching. Also, the students are equipped with text books. Students learn their prayers, the sacraments, Sacred Scripture, Church History, Morality and many more. Integrated in their lessons are the saints of the day who exemplified Christian virtues which could serve as models in living their lives and topics mandated by our diocese.

The parents bring their children to the classroom according to their schedule day and time while they go to Church or Parish Hall for their meetings as agreed.

Experiences would tell that a very good number of children received their First Communion at the end of the second grade year and so with those on Confirmation at the tenth grade year. It is our firm conviction that God desires all humanity to be Holy and come to the knowledge of salvation.
